BHP SHOW 3 May 2010 "Monday bank holiday", what a great way to spend the day

This will be the club’s first show and what a way to start, at one of the biggest shows (Lydden, Kent). Last year the show had over 11,000 visitors and the organisers tell me they are expecting even more this year. This is not only the club’s first show, it will be the first show that I have helped to organise. I want to make it something special for the members who attend, so we have a genuine friendly club atmosphere on the stand. This show is open to all makes and models which will give us the opportunity to work with other clubs again.

There will be a Club marquee (8m x 4m) where members and club guests can mix socially and use as a base. Soft drinks, food, and music will be available. There will be a limited amount of seating, so if you want to guarantee a seat please bring it with you. Articles from the club shop and access to the clubs website will also be available. As I said in the beginning, this is the first show that I have helped to arrange and I hope to get support from some of the other members. I will be booking the stand on 1st February to guarantee we get one and that we get one with electricity.

Passengers are charged £15 entrance fee by the BHP organisers and will be able to use the club stand facilities. Passengers will need to pay their entrance fee directly to the organisers at the gate on the day

Information for stand display cars.

I am going to reserve a stand (area) for 20 /25 cars, which is quite an ambitious attendance number to achieve. There is a charge of £7 for cars that are displayed on the stand (normally £15). This covers the driver and car admission to the BHP show plus, you will be entitled to free soft drinks all day from the club marquee. Your car will be entered into the Kent Car Club’s Best Presented Car award of the day. (Prizes to be announced £££).

The only thing I would like for people to do at this stage, is to indicate if they would like to be on the stand. Could you please list your name, car make, model and number of people attending?

Thank you for your support.

I would definitely like to be on the stand

What do the organisers of the bhp show say: http://www.bhpperformanceshow.com/index.php

With 4 hours of live ‘on track’ action demos and 5 hours of public track time the event is full with non-stop track action that keeps everyone's eyes glued to the circuit. A variety of motorsport and Performance cars perform demonstrations of Drifting, Time Attack, Rallycross, Group B & Group A Rallycars, Circuit Racing, Oval Racing and High Powered sprint cars making it a fun day for all the family

When you need a break from the adrenalin filled demonstrations you can take a walk around the paddock and view the fantastic display of enthusiasts cars who come from all corners of the country some individually, but many from some of the longest standing and highest repected car clubs around.

A ‘Best Car Club’ Trophy is presented to the best presented and turned out car/owners club. The 2008 trophy went to ‘South East Xtreme off roaders’.

About the day at the BHP show

The stand

I always remember the first time I went to a show and was told that my car would be on the stand. I felt this degree of panic set in as I imagined the stand being something like the motor show in Earls Court with gleaming white spotlights. My mind was quickly put at rest when I was told that the stand was a large area of flat ground that all the club cars could park together on. This is exactly what we have reserved, an area of flat ground on one of the terraces leading down to the pits where cars gain access onto the track.
    Who does what when?

The cars on the stand will obviously have to arrive before the gates open to the public. You do need to arrive early and not on the exact opening time for stand cars to gain entry. Otherwise you will join a queue with the other hundred cars that have left it to the last minute. The organisers will have a list of car registration numbers that have been booked on stands. If there is only the driver of a stand car in it the organisers will wave you through. If you have passengers, they will ask for the passengers entrance fees. Follow the road and look out for the Kent Car Club banner, where one of us will be waiting to show you to your parking spot. You should have a good hour to put the finishing show and shine touches to your car. (Water is available)
Stand car arrival time has yet to be confirmed, however I suspect it will be between 6.45am and 7.45 am

Marquee

Again do not imagine this massive marquee to be similar to the type used on large exhibitions. The marquee is made of a lightweight reinforced plastic sheeting not dissimilar to an overgrown pagoda that some people have in their gardens. It measures approximately 8 m x 3 m and will be closed in on three sides so that one of the long sides gives easy viewing of the cars on the stand. The general idea of it is to give somewhere to: casually socialise, sit down to get something to eat and drink and a bit of shelter if needed. Because we booked early we will have electricity supply that will be used for hot drinks and some appropriate music (possibly a bit of lighting).

Putting up the marquee

I have been told by the organisers that they may let us go up the night before and put up the marquee. Otherwise they will give us access from “5 am”. So I am hoping, weather permitting we can do it the night before.

Take the day to a different level with TrackTime

BHP SHOW 3 MAY

If you want to take the day to a different level, why not try your car around the track a few times, it is up to you. You will get lots of support from other club members who will be on the stand and hopefully some good photographs to remember the day.

We cannot stress enough that if you want Track-Time you will have to book it well in advance of the May 2010 BHP performance show. Last year the BHP show sold out of Track-Time very quickly and there were lots of disappointed people.

For those of you who want to book track time you will have to complete a form that can be downloaded from here: http://www.bhpperformanceshow.com/ford_ ... 202009.pdf
Complete the downloaded form and return it as quickly as possible to Jay at the address below. Do not forget to say you are a Kent Car Club Member and will be on the stand. If you have any problems contact me and I will help you.

How do I pay my stand entrance fee?

Two simple ways:

Kent Car Club has already prepaid for the stand, you may pay your entrance fee to one of Kent Car Club's representative on the day

    Or

Pay now this way: Have a good day and help someone else.

There is a £7 charge made by the BHP show organisers for cars that are on the Kent Car Club stand. This does include the driver’s entrance fee to the Show. The Kent Car Club has prepaid for the Club stand.

If you make a donation of £7 to Macmillan Cancer support Charity and bring the receipt along with you to the show, you will not have to pay the £7 entrance fee back to the club. Kent Car Club will pay your stand entrance fee because you have made of equal donation to Macmillan's Cancer support Charity.

This only applies to people who have registered as Kent Car Club members before the event and only applies to members that have signed up to be on the Kent Car Club Stand

Make your donation here.

[b][color=#8000FF]Just print your receipt and bring it with you.

We have fun and it helps someone else

25/04/2010 information update

25/04/2010

Generally people should arrive about 7-30, you will have to queue (my experience last year)

I hope to get the stand organised by about 7.00-15 ready to accept cars

Coffee and tea available from 7-30 onwards

I will be posting little bit about the stand and the show every day this week. (Don't want to overload information all at one go)

Please do not hesitate in asking any questions.

Michael

Hi unfortunately due to circumstances that were out of our control some postings have been deleted, we have taken steps to reduce this risk in the future. I think I have managed to recover the majority of names of people who wanted to attend the BHP show, if your name does not appear on the top list could you let me know.

This is going to be a great day and I really would like to see as many people from the Kent Car Club attending as possible, we have one or two surprises for you on the day.

We will be posting news about the Best Presented 2010 car cup very shortly

We have also decided to have a special trophy in 2010 for the Best Modified Project Car.

Just to give you an idea of what to expect on the day some photographs of the September 2009 BHP show.

The May Bank Holiday show attracts more retailers, so bring some money for those new modifications. :D

Spot how many cars and people you know..... I think you should all know one or twoImage
