Just received this e-mail directly from Link,ECU

Link ECU (UK) [sales@link-ecu.co.uk]
Hello Michael,

The Link STORM G4 is perfect for this conversion. To retain the auto gearbox one would also keep the old stock ECU and run the Link STORM as a piggy-back ECU to control the engine. Link ECUs have been used on the MkII and MkIII MR2s with 3S-GTE, 3S-GE, 1ZZ-FE, 2ZZ-FE, 1MZ-FE and 2GR-FE engines.

We recommend THOR Racing as they have fitted many STORMs to the MR2 and have done all the wiring and ECU installation to MkII and MkIII MR2’s running the Camry V6 (and the 2GR-FE as well).

Thank you for your interest in Link Engine Management. Please send us photos of the conversion as we may feature this in our Link ECU blog pages.
Regards
Peter

:D

Some of my e-mail replies make interesting reading, and confirm G4 storm is the right route.

THOR Sales [sales@thor-racing.co.uk]

Michael,
I will know more about booking times etc on Monday when we return to work but we are confident we can do the job. We have just finished wiring a Vauxhall VXR engine into a Daewoo Lanos with a Link STORMG4, so we get some strange requests. We have been fitting Link ECUs for 5 years now.

Regards
Charlie

It has got to be in Scotland for the Highland run on 15 April, that is a 2500 mile run on some very demanding roads.

Would like to test it for at least a couple weeks beforehand :D

I might need a car electrician, the trouble is he would have to come to my house and work on the car

Made very good progress today,

Have now got to the stage where an adapter plate is needed to hold the throttle cable as it is too long.

Image

Need to make something to hold the gearbox selector cable in place (Gearbox end)

Image

We need to plan the route of the flow and return radiator pipes across the rear of the engine bay (thinking about heat from the exhaust system, room for the supercharger)

Going to reassemble the suspension on one side of the car tomorrow :D :D :D

This diagram may make it a bit clearer, we need a bracket to hold the cable for adjustment purposes, should be quite simple

you don't need any adjustment. you need a kill switch. power on power off. rocket or no rocket.
